Health Promotion Unit (YTG) engages in a range of activities to promote healthy decision-making and behaviour and to prevent illness and injury. Key priorities currently are sexual health, tobacco reduction and school health. Hearing Services (YTG) promotes early detection of permanent hearing loss and middle ear problems and hearing loss in infants and children. Services include: diagnostic hearing assessment for all ages; hearing aid prescription and repair; earmold impressions for swimplugs and hearing protection; consultation or training for other professionals and the general public.

Victoria Faulkner Women’s Centre is an organization by women for women; providing phone-in and drop-in information, lay counselling and support programs. The Centre also provides advocacy services for women who are trying to obtain services or are having difficulty working through the maze.

Yukon Development Education Centre (YDEC) is dedicated to issues of international development. The Centre’s work includes raising funds to support small international development projects; holding an annual speaker series; organizing conferences and seminars, film festivals, international dinners and other events. YDEC also provides the public with information on overseas work opportunities and offers a minor advocacy role.

Yukon Learn is a literacy coalition promoting the development and provision of literacy services throughout the Yukon. Services includes tutor training twice yearly in Whitehorse and on demand in rural Yukon. In Whitehorse we offer one-to-one tutoring in reading, writing and math. We also have special workshops including beginner computer and inter-net classes.

Yukon Volunteer Bureau strives for community development and capacity building through the development of volunteers. We do this by providing training and resources on board development, volunteer management, and organizational management; by supporting non-profit organizations to celebrate their volunteers; by connecting volunteers to opportunities to be involved; and by creating networks where volunteers and non-profit groups can come together to share ideas, resources, and information.
